So, the plan was to go see Mad Max: Fury Road and then write a review of it according to the normal HEIGHT movie review template. But the thing is, I can’t write a “normal” review of this movie because it is absolutely the furthest thing from normal. It seems other writers have felt a similar need for deviation. For example, SBNation’s Spencer Hall wrote his review in all caps.
I have never seen a movie like this in my life and I hope to never see another movie like it again. I thoroughly enjoyed the 120 mins of linear chaos on Fury Road, but its insanity is idiomatic.
Mad Max: Fury Road is like an amphetamine-fueled night in Vegas with your most asinine friends: It was awesome, you’re not exactly sure what happened and any attempt to replicate it will inevitably be disappointing.
Should you see this move? Yeah, probably. It’s not one of those movies that you need to see, but it is one of those movie you should see. Because just like that night with your friends, you’ll be able to look back on it, chuckle, and say, “Man, that shit was wild.”
